Today was PBIS reward day at JHS for the first quarter. The students had their choice of several different activities this afternoon. There was also a drawing for a $25 dollar Sonic gift card. The winner of the gift card was Caden Adkins.

History Teacher Alyssa Schloss and three JHS students, Hayden Forthman, Ava McNeill, and Katherine Harris, attended a workshop with Senator Fowler yesterday at SIU. Thank you, Senator Fowler, for hosting students from all over southern Illinois at this workshop.
The 6th grade class participated in a food drive sponsored by Farm Bureau. They received a classroom greenhouse for participating.
On October 21, Mr. Shannon Lewey, the Recruiting Operations Officer from SIU-C, visited with Joppa's Juniors. He discussed the benefits and opportunities available through SIU's Army ROTC.

USAF Captain Aaron Baker, recruiting officer, from SIU , SEMO, and John A Logan visited with Joppa's seniors this morning. Former student Joshua McGinness joined him to share about his experience as a cadet.

Jr High students had the privilege to attend The Lightning Thief at The Carson Center.
Teen Teachers distributed enrollment forms for K-6. Parents should complete and return to the classroom teacher. Teen Teachers have activities plan throughout the year.

First graders learn about fire fighters protective gear, how to yell out for help, and not to be afraid of fire fighters. Great presentation!
