Tuesday, April 20th, Joppa FFA attended the Ag Mechanics competition at SIC in Harrisburg. There were 5 areas of mechanics at the contest. Welding consisted of a flat weld joining two pieces together, with a written exam. Ag Power was a small engine diagnosis, part identification, and exam. Surveying involved using a level to find angels of benchmarks and slope, with an exam. The carpentry area required finding the correct angle for a rafter, tool identification, and exam. The electricity portion required the contestant to wire a light switch or outlet, tool identification, and an exam. Our team members are: Electricity: Jaxon Mitchell 5th place, Construction: Brody Greer 2nd place, Surveying: Sky Keeling 1st place, Welding: Ava Stephens 8th place, and Ag Power: Gunner Johnson 9th place . Joppa FFA placed 4th at the Virtual District 5 Horticulture contest last Friday hosted by SIU. Members of that team were: Cadence Mescher, Ava Stephens, Sky Keeling, Jordyn VanMeter, and Hannah Wilkins. Congratulations to these amazing students.
