Shawnee Community College will be the site of the 14th annual ELITE (Educate, Lead, and Inspire Tomorrow’s Entrepreneurs) Youth Entrepreneur Camp, tentatively scheduled for July 18-21, 2022 at the main campus. This is a 4-day camp for 7th, 8th, and 9th graders in which students will prepare a business plan throughout the week. Guest presenters will cover various topics related to entrepreneurship. Students will also take a field trip to see how actual businesses operate on a daily basis. The camp concludes with students making a presentation on their business plans on the final day. Parents, guardians, and other guests are invited to a luncheon and the presentation ceremony. Winning students will receive awards in 3 categories including prize money to assist in their entrepreneurship efforts.
The ELITE Camp is coordinated by Shawnee Community College, Southernmost Illinois Delta Empowerment Zone (SIDEZ), and University of Illinois Extension.
