SEMO would like to let you know about Southeast Missouri State University's upcoming virtual exploration weeks. This will take place October 5-8 and October 26-29. Each week will include various 30-minute Zoom presentations that will include sessions with our colleges and departments, student life, and student support services. Students will get to interact with faculty from departments across campus. They'll also get to chat with members of our student support services to get a better idea of the personalized support that Southeast offers. The 2021-22 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) cycle, including FAFSA on the Web, will open next Thursday (October 1, 2020). The Central Processing System (CPS) will begin processing 2021-22 FAFSA data on October 2. Students must submit the FAFSA each year in order to be considered for all federal financial aid programs and most institutional programs. FAFSA results are also used to determine eligibility for most state programs, including the Monetary Award Program (MAP) grant. The Southern Illinois University’s Army ROTC department has invited all high school students who are interested in obtaining information about Army ROTC to a Virtual Meet and Greet. Their first Meet and Greet will be on the 7th of October at 3:00 pm. If a student is not able to attend the first meeting, the second Meet and Greet is on the December 4 at 10:00am. The Virtual Meet and Greets are intended to provide the students information regarding the basics of Army ROTC, as well as its many benefits to include financial benefits obtained as a Cadet in the program. They will also discuss the National Scholarship process, where a high school senior can apply for an Army ROTC Federal Scholarship as well as other scholarships, Cadet stipends, and tuition waiver opportunities. They will have Cadets that are currently in the program available to answer any questions about the program, as well as providing their own personal feedback on why they chose Army ROTC and SIU. The Department Chair and Professor of Military Science, Lieutenant Colonel Jarrad Glasenapp will be hosting the event, providing his own personal story as a student and graduate of an Army ROTC program, as well as answering any questions. Southern Illinois University Edwardsville is excited to offer an opportunity to assist students in their desire to become an SIUE Cougar! October 5 – 18 they are waiving the $40 application fee for students who apply and are admissible based on our criteria for both automatic and provisional admission.
