Students in Mr. May's English II class took a VR tour of Auschwitz in anticipation for studying human trials through Elie Wiesel's novel Night. The class read an informational text about Nazi Germany and then were able to use 21st Century authentic learning skills to "step" outside of the classroom for a day.

Freshmen English students participated in a mock trial for SpongeBob SquarePants. Students demonstrated their reading skills, synthesizing evidence to develop an argument. On Tuesday, students used good Speaking and Listening skills to present their arguments to Mr. May. We love hands-on learning opportunities!

Joppa-Maple Grove Unit District 38 has really felt the love during our transitional time. The overwhelming support from the community near and far is proof of how good people are and how blessed we are. Maple Grove students and staff don't have enough words to describe how grateful we are to everyone who donated and/or sent positive thoughts and encouragement. We wanted to make sure everyone who was there for us is recognized. THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU!

I apologize. I labeled the wish list as Maple Grove, but it is still saying Wendy Wear's wish list. Just to be clear, it is not my wish list. It is under my name because I set it up for the teachers. Thank you, Wendy Wear Principal, Joppa-Maple Grove

Attention Families: Starting Monday, August 28, 2023, ALL STUDENTS, Pre-K through 12th grade will be attending school in the Joppa High School building located at 911 Joppa North Avenue. We are so excited to have all of our students back in person. Drop off and pick up routines: Car Riders Grades Pre-K through 6th: Families will pull into the driveway on the north side of the building by the picnic tables and garden. Drivers will pull around the back of the building (the ballfield will be on the passenger side) and drive around to the southwest entrance of the gym. There will be staff members there to greet students. (Just like at Maple Grove, but driving around the back side of the building instead of pulling straight in.) This is how drop-off and pick-up will operate. Grades 7th through 12th: Families will be picked up and dropped off in the parking lot. Please be mindful that our buses will be using the parking lot to pick up and drop off our elementary students at the gym lobby door. Bus Riders 4th grade through 12th grade bus riders will enter and exit the building at the main doors in front of the school. Pre-K through 3rd grade bus riders will enter and exit at the doors to the gym lobby. Thank you for your patience and understanding. We can’t wait to see you all!
