Joppa-MG Principal Stephanie Wood has been selected as the winner of the Elevate Award for the month of May. The veteran school leader retired as Principal at Livingston Central High School in Western Kentucky in 2024 and just completed her first year at Joppa-MG for the 2024-25 school year.
Under Mrs. Wood's leadership, the district has experienced rapid growth in student attendance and has developed new academic goals and expectations through the creation of a Portrait of a Graduate. The District will also launch a new STEAM Lab in time for the 2025-26 school year.
"As I reflect on the school year, I can't think of anyone more deserving of this award as Mrs. Wood has raised the bar in what we can accomplish as a school district," said Dr. Greg Goins, District 38 Superintendent.
Sponsored by Cordavino's Italian Kitchen in Metropolis, the Elevate Award is given each month to a teacher or staff member who has gone above and beyond normal expectations to help “elevate” the success and profile of the Joppa-Maple Grove School District.
Monthly winners receive a $50 gift card to Cordavino’s Italian Kitchen, a certificate of recognition, and will be featured on the school district website and social media channels.
