Congratulations to Mrs. Penny Bellamey on being selected as the winner of the Elevate Award for the month of January. In addition to teaching Math, Mrs. Bellamey also serves as the school counselor and has elevated her leadership this year by providing oversight over the district's student management system and by expanding scholarship opportunities for high school seniors.
Most notably, her colleagues recognize that she always sets the bar high for her students.
“Penny works hard for all of her students. She has high expectations for all students and is always willing to help others.”
“She holds the students to a higher standard and makes sure everyone is doing their best. The students always talk about how challenging her class is but how they love having her as their teacher.
Sponsored by Cordavino's Italian Kitchen in Metropolis, the Elevate Award is given each month to a teacher or staff member who has gone above and beyond normal expectations to help “elevate” the success and profile of the Joppa-Maple Grove School District.
